Matías is one of the founders of “Uruguay Fish Tours”, a project which from 2024 invites people from all over the world to discover Uruguay and legally and sustainably collect fish for their aquariums. He is also one of the founders of “Autóctonos de Uruguay” (Native to Uruguay) project which unite a passionate group of Uruguayan hobbyists focused on documenting and conserving native freshwater species, through expeditions, photography, and sharing knowledge on many social media platforms.

Matías has dedicated more than half of his life to the aquarium hobby. He enjoys nature and exploring freshwater environments throughout Uruguay, documenting the diversity of fish, especially species from the Gymnogeophagus genus.
